Let's call last Saturday a scrimmage. Surely a game held against Missouri, in Missouri, and called a "neutral site" game, can be stricken from the season on some grounds. OK, then we're all agreed: the season starts September 12.
Memorial Stadium, not getting nearly the pub as last year when the west-side sky boxes were the vogue topic, has been swept, cleaned, and is ready to go for the new season. Illinois State heads into town as the perfect tonic to what's ailing the Illini, not to mention the rest of Champaign-Urbana.
And if Warren Carter's signing with the New York Knicks today is any indication, things are looking up for Illini sports this weekend.
