Urbana High School

Built in 1914, the current Urbana High School building was designed by architect Joseph Royer, who also designed the Lincoln Hotel, Urbana Free Library, Champaign County Court House, and many other beautiful structures. The high school's architecture is Tudor style, as evidenced by the towers over the main entrance and flattened point arches over the doors. Royer attended Urbana High, obviously in a previous building, in the 1890s. Several of Royer's buildings are on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Joseph W. Royer Historic District in Urbana recognizes his contributions.
