Opened in January 1999, the Illinois Terminal is an intermodal transportation center, providing city bus, intercity bus, and rail connections to, from, and within Champaign. The facility serves as a main stop for Amtrak trains traveling from Chicago to New Orleans. Illinois Terminal provides a central transfer point for Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District buses and presently houses the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District, Greyhound, Burlington Trailways, LEX Express, Megabus, Amtrak, Subway Sandwich Shop, CityView (Illinois Terminal's Banquet and Meeting Center), R.E.A.D.Y. School, and Senator Michael Frerichs' District Headquarters.
