Downtown Champaign's historic Art Theatre has continued operations this year after a new owner took over January 1, following months of questions over what would happen when the previous owner's lease ran out. While this made many local film lovers happy, it's also meaningful to the Urbana native who grew up to be one of the world's great film critics. "The continuation of the Art Theatre is particularly good news for me," Roger Ebert says in a blog entry in late 2009. "It was where I first saw 'Citizen Kane' and the films of Bergman, John Cassavetes...It was central to my development as a film goer." Read Roger's full blog entry.
