Allerton Park

Allerton Park is one of the 7 Wonders of Illinois, according to the Illinois Bureau of Tourism. Autumn is a great time to spend a couple hours strolling around Allerton's 1,500 beautiful acres of beautiful, outdoor surroundings. You'll find extensive formal gardens, more than 100 outdoor sculptures and garden ornaments, 14 miles of interpretive hiking trails, a century-old Georgian-style mansion with reflecting pond, and natural areas including the Sangamon River, floodplains, lowland and upland forests, a meadow, and a 30-acre demonstration prairie. Allerton Park is also on the American Institute of Architects' List of 150 Great Places in Illinois.
